“Love Interruption” by Jack White

Comment on YouTube for this video… “The only problem with this song is that it's too short.”

Yep.

'When My Baby Comes' (SixToes Remix) by Grinderman

Video: 'When My Baby Comes' SixToes Remix | Rolling Stone:

Nick Cave declared that his Grinderman project with Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos was over last year, but the band's music lives on in the form of remixes on Grinderman 2 RMX, a set featuring new versions of their songs by UNKLE, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Nick Zinner and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Joshua Homme. This video for SixToes' remix of "When My Baby Comes" sets the creepy, creaky tune to stunningly grotesque stop-motion animation footage.

Reminds me of this O’Death Video:  http://retroviruslab.blogspot.com/2011/10/just-saw-that-these-guys-are-playing.html

Songs of the long walk… “3rd Planet” by Modest Mouse

At least once a week I have a very long walk taking care of one chore or another involving the boys.  Usually these walks seem to land on the grayest and rainiest days of the  week.  Wet and cold with too much time to think, I find myself hitting the repeat button on certain songs over and over again.  Each walk seems to find its own theme song.

This was one such song.  I have no idea what it was about this song that spoke to me that day, something in the way the words and music intersected with the weather and mood.  There was no single line in the song that stood out, but looking at the lyrics below, I can see many that would have fit the mood on these long walks.

I’ve been meaning to post these songs for a while but life has been interfering, as usual.

Everything that keeps me together is falling apart/i've got
This thing that I consider my only art of fucking people over.
My boss just quit the job says he's goin out to find blind
Spots and he'll do it.
The 3rd planet is sure that they're being watched by an
Eye in the sky that can't be stopped.
When you get to the promise land your gonna shake that
Eyes hand.
Your heart felt good it was drippin pitch and made of wood.
And your hands and knees felt cold and wet on the grass to me.
Outside naked, shiverin looking blue, from the cold
Sunlight that's reflected off the moon.
Baby cum angels fly around you reminding you we used
To be three and not just two.
And that's how the world began.
And that's how the world will end.
A 3rd had just been made and we were swimming in the
Water, didn't know then was it a son was it a daughter.
When it occurred to me that the animals are swimming
Around in the water in the oceans in our bodies and
Another had been found another ocean on the planet
Given that our blood is just like the atlantic.
And how.
The universe is shaped exactly like the earth if you go
Straight long enough you'll end up where you were.

Kelly Hogan 'I Like To Keep Myself In Pain' Mini-Documentary from Anti

Haven’t been posting much here for awhile, so I’ve got a bit of a log jam built up.  Probably be throwing quite a few videos up over the next couple days.

I already posted this just about everywhere, but I don’t want to lose track of this so I am posting it here too.

“The Well” by Charlie Musselwhite; Cyndi Lauper & Mohammed Alidu & The Bizung Family on eTown

Heard this story and song on eTown this weekend.

Cyndi Lauper / Charlie Musselwhite / Mohammed Alidu | etown:

eTown brings back an eclectic show for your listening pleasure. Joining hosts Nick & Helen Forster in eTown is Grammy winning, pop music icon Cyndi Lauper. Cyndi continues to mix things up as she’s always done in her career; most recently she’s been reinventing herself as a blues singer, and she comes with songs from her CD project, Memphis Blues. Also taking the stage, (both with Cyndi as a member of her blues band and in his own separate segment) is eTown favorite and iconic bluesman Charlie Musselwhite. Charlie shares his world-class harmonica skills and great vocals in original songs (off his CD called The Well), layered in deep-country blues. Nick and Helen and the eTones provide great back up support for him too. The show is rounded out with a brief visit by world music beat masters Mohammed Alidu & The Bizung Family and an inspiring E-Chievement Award interview. It’s another memorable week, right here in eTown.
